The 2020 Thirlstane Cup Handicap Match Play Final was decided in late December with Richard Lewis defeating Shane Wootton 5/4.
Woot got off to a flying start winning the first hole but it was all one way traffic from their with Lewis winning six of the next eight holes holes to take a commanding five up lead at the halfway mark. They traded blows over the next four holes, Woot winning the 10th & 12th, Lewis winning the 11th & 13th. At Dormie 5 Lewis hit an errant drive into the banana lake on the 14th Hole but Woot failed to take advantage hitting his tee shot behind a tree. Lewis required a two putt five to halve the hole and take victory, leaving his first putt 3 foot short he calmly sunk the next to put his name on the club's honour board for the first time.
Congratulations to Richard on a fine display of golf and commiserations to Shane
